About the role 

Ever wondered what it would be like to develop market leading features for the UK’s number 1 ‘investment supermarket’ for private investors? Hargreaves Lansdown, a FTSE 100 company, look after over £70.0 billion for 876,000 active clients from their landmark head office in Bristol. From starting out in a back bedroom in Bristol 35 years ago the company now employs more than 1,000 people in the UK. A huge part of their success has been down to their investment in IT. Would you like to be part of the next stage of growth in this success story?

HL Tech is a new Hargreaves Lansdown’s technology center that will allow us to bring innovative new products to the market, and to support its rapid growth we are looking to expand its technology capabilities. The entire HL Tech team will be based in prime real estate in central Warsaw. You will be working as part of an Agile/Scrum squad dedicated to greenfield projects that will create innovation, a major step forward in next generation client service on the £700 billion savings market in the UK. 
Our development squads will consist of Scrum squads and other IT roles that will support us In end-to-end delivery of the entire product. We are looking for highly skilled & motivated IT Specialists who enjoy seeing their work making a measurable impact to a business and disrupting the status quo.

IT Specialist

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Installing and configuring physical infrastructure, monitoring and maintaining technical rooms
  • Configuring servers, switches, access points, documenting and implementing LAN, monitoring network infrastructure
  • Administering virtual environment based on VMware solutions
  • Managing roles and services based on Windows/Linux systems, suggesting optimization changes
  • Preparing and implementation of back-up strategy for HL Tech infrastructure
  • Manage user accounts and follow audited procedures for additional system access,
  • Administering CCTV & Physical access control systems
  • Manage IT assets and licenses,
  • Setting up the new starters work seats, configuring hardware equipment
  • Providing the company with the best hardware and software solutions choices, regular contact with vendors and suppliers,
  • Work with the latest technologies locally and participating in common projects with the HQ in Bristol
  • Support the business in HL Tech in Warsaw via desk side visits or remote control
  • Create and update Knowledge Base documentation

Essential Requirements & Skills

  • Experience of working as IT Specialist, preferably in fast-paced, dynamic environment particularly financial services and/or IT
  • Knowledge of IT literacy especially within a Microsoft environment e.g. Windows 7/10, MS Office, Outlook/Exchange, Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP, WSUS
  • Preparing computers and managing installed software through System Center Configuration Manager
  • Experience of working with virtual machines and servers based on VMware vSphere
  • Familiarity with network technologies and devices (firewalls, routers, switches, access points)
  • Experience with ITIL processes, standards and tools
  • Team player skills, communication capacity
  • Positive and effective approach to problem solving
  • A degree in computing, IT or a numerate discipline
  • Experience with English speaking work environment

Nice to have

  • Experience with managing Linux servers & workstations on scale
  • Knowledge of FollowMe printing solutions (PaperCut)
  • Experience working with Attlasian stack (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Experience working with Scrum development teams
  • Passion for newest technologies, following up latest IT trends (Docker, Kubernetes, ELK, Microservices)
