Our client is a global Programme Management Consultancy with a growing business in Switzerland; mainly off the back of a number of global Pharmaceutical clients; They are seeking to recruit a Project Controls Engineer to work in their Basel office supporting these clients.
Key requirements are:

  • Experienced Project Controls Professional; at least 5 years experience
  • Ideally German speaking (or willing to go on an intensive course)
  • Ideally some experience of the Pharma sector
    A more detailed description is below:
    The Project Controls Engineer is responsible to set up, monitor and appraise the financial and schedule performance of major capital projects in accordance with standardized project management processes and best practices.
    Provide cost, schedule and estimating services and continuously optimize project service processes and tools.
    Special focus is on forward looking early warning input to the Project Manager and ensuring that necessary corrective actions are taken.
    Typical project size is > CHF 100 million
  • Provide controls and accounting services from CD to close out of a project
  • Support the provision of cost estimates and update benchmark figures
  • Support the PCM to continuously optimize project controls processes, tools and update the project controls toolbox
  • Cost and schedule management of major capital projects:
    - Manage the interface between project and the client’s local and global policies, guidelines and enable the project to adapt these (e.g. procurement, accounting, documentation policies)
    - Manage the interfaces between the Project Financial Accountant and the project team/contractors
    - Provide the project master schedule if no project schedule engineer is assigned to the project
    - Monitor the contractors’ project controls techniques to ensure that tools are capable of meeting Roche requirements and are properly implemented as outlined in the job specifications and execution procedures
    - Ensure that he project team and or contractors are adequately trained
    - Provide project controls and financial accounting procedures and systems
    - Provide WBS, work packages, project cost ledger, SAP reconciliation, invoice pre-check and administration
    - Monitor reimbursable cost
    - Review technical bids as member of the bid review team, support purchase requisitions and claim management
    - Provide cost control, schedule and progress control and understand variances from the budget
    - Provide the critical path of a project
    - Provide the risk register of the project
    - Provide Change Management of a project
    - Incorporate changes to the scope, schedule and cost control systems and to the reporting
    - Support the preparation of cost estimates
    - Produce accurate and unbiased cost forecasts at a detailed and summary level and forecast the final cost of the project
    - Identify early warning of adverse cost, schedule, quality trends and ensure that corrective actions are taken
    - Perform “what-if”analysis and prepare corrective actions when required
    Support the PM in the production of project reports including project monthly and quarterly reports and the project completion report
    - Special assignments defined by the Project Manager (e.g. conflict management, analysis, contract resolution)
